Information technology in construction has been developing into
aresearch discipline and a teaching topic in its own right. Corresponding chairs
and departments are being set up in the faculties all over the world. It is a
subject of influence from the technology push of computer science and technology
pull of core civil engineering disciplines and therefore lacking a clear
identity of its own. In the paper, the authors present a short overview of
information technology in construction and then focus on the educational
aspects, particularly on higher education.The paper presents a project on the
developemnt of an international postgraduate course in construction information
