Construction is an information intensive
business. Although characterised by products, which are meas-ured in kilometres
and tons, quite a lot of information has to be manipulated during the life time
of buildings or other civil engineering hacilities. Particularly the early
life-cycle stages, such as feasibility, conception and design, are information
intensive. Several different information technologies (IT) can be applied to
ensure better quality of the designs, faster design-built cycle and less
