Current Internet collaboration platforms in the AEC/FM (architecture,
engineering, construction/facility management) domain are basically
project-centred. They provide many advanced features to support teamwork but
offer little help with respect to the personal needs of the individual users
that are usually involved in several projects and in several teams at the same
time. The human-centred integration approach developed in the EU project
ISTforCE (IST-1999-11508) provides a basis to meet such requirements. In the
ISTforCE environment, integration is considered along multiple axes, i.e. users,
services, projects, tasks, and product data. Interoperability of the components
of the environment is achieved through a common high-level ontology, a common
format for all system messages based on XML, and common communication methods
based on HTTP, RMI-HOP, CORBA and WSDL./SOAP. Hence project information can be
uniformly tackled, enabling multi-user and multi-services support across the
multiple propjects the end users might parcipate in [COBISS.SI-ID 1701473]
